Our entry had a blank spot that needed something practical, not bulky. The finish gives the room a little depth. The piece is more substantial than it appears in the photos, which is worth keeping in mind for a smaller room. It has a lived-in quality that works better than something overly formal.

Near the entry, the practical side showed up right away: it makes the room look more settled without relying on a larger piece. The proportions give it more presence than the footprint suggests. There is a nice balance here between visual interest and everyday usefulness.
