Near the main wall, nothing about it feels wasted; it looks good and handles the ordinary parts of the day. It makes the wall feel finished without dominating it.

To my eye, I was worried it would feel too formal, but it sits easily with the furniture we already own. It makes the wall feel finished without dominating it. It sits easily with the rest of our existing pieces.

Close to the seating area, it does not compete with the rest of the room, which is exactly why it works. It is nice to have the everyday clutter out of view. It feels personal without being overly specific to one style.
