After comparing a few styles, this was the one that made the most sense for our room. The concealed storage is useful without making the piece look utilitarian.

Seen in context, I expected it to be mainly decorative, but it has become one of the more useful pieces in the room. It does exactly what we hoped it would. I needed a little time to settle on the exact placement, but once it was in the room the scale made sense.

Near the dining table, the display piece looks like it was always meant to be there. The finish keeps the overall look from feeling flat. The details are more subtle than I pictured online, although that has made it easier to live with day to day. I would make the same choice again.
